Southwest Louisville news updates: The heat is on

- Slow down: District 13 is utilizing radar trailers in an effort to reduce speeding in the area. It's working, according to Councilwoman Vicki Welch (D-13). "We're already getting good feedback from people who are seeing a drop in speeding thanks to this new tool. We'll be coordinating over coming weeks with LMPD to move the trailer to various key locations that have reported significant problems with speeding", says Welch.

- Structural steel is being set at Valley High School as the construction of a new auditorium is well under way. Improvements are also being made to the building's interior to accommodate the arrival of the medical magnet program.

- Mayor Greg Fischer will be appearing at Valley High School on September 12 for a "Talk to Greg" event. The shindig gets under way at 6 p.m. Bring your questions/problems/advice.

- Councilman Rick Blackwell (D-12) has invited Eileen Ordover of the Legal Aid Society of Louisville to July’s District 12 Dialogue on Tuesday, July 19th. The July District 12 Dialogue will be held at the Ormsby Heights Baptist Church, 2120 Lower Hunters Trace beginning at 7:00pm. The group’s mission is to pursue justice for people in poverty and provide free legal services to the most disadvantaged in the community.
