Crime Alert:
Metropolitan Sewer District Thefts

MSD has been experiencing metal thefts from grates or basins in recent months; these are the grates that you find on the side of the road that capture the water running down the curb.
The only people that should be working on these grates or basins are uniformed MSD employees, most likely with a marked MSD vehicle.

The thefts for July alone have totaled $6,406 city-wide.

If a citizen has any question as to the legitimacy of a person’s activities, contact LMPD immediately or they may contact MSD at 587-0603 (24 hours a day). Their security staff is on-call and willing to respond if needed.

  1. As they try to sell these grates the police should be notified and arrested before they leave
