In response to the utter silliness of the "Tea Parties" or "Tea Baggers" or whatever that was last summer, people are coming together over something new and something civil called the Coffee Party. It is spreading like a rash all over these United States, and there is a call out for folks to gather in support. It is being called "Coffee Party Day" and it is on March 13. Here's the mission statement from the site www.coffeepartyusa.com:
MISSION: The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them.
As fast as this thing is growing, one could say it looks to be the new independent political movement of the 21st Century. Or it could flame out spectacularly (once the "establishment" gets its greedy little mitts on it) and end up like the Reform Party. Who knows?
If you are interested, there is a meeting planned here in Louisville on March 13. Click HERE to see the when and where. There is a facebook group as well. More to come....
