Sun Valley Park Conditions, January 24

Below you will find more pictures of our once-beloved Sun Valley Park. The pictures show the condition of the park as of Friday, January 23, 2008, one month after Mayor Abramson and officials from Metro Parks promised the clean up procedure would be completed, and four months after the windstorm.

UPDATE, 01/25/2009, 9:00pm: The following pictures were forwarded by a concerned citizen. Check out the condition of Shawnee Park. Please note there are no East End parks with any remaining trash or debris, as all cleanup operations have been completed there.

  1. Shawnee Park is just as bad, I've got photos. It's becoming a dump site for garbage. Cox's Park is, of course, clean as can be. What other parks were used as dump sites?

  2. I don't know which other parks were used as dumps for storm debris. If you would forward those pictures to me, I will post them in addition to the ones I have taken.

    Thanks

  3. Supposedly Highview and Charlie Vettiner were also used as dumps, and I know that there was one in McNeeley Lake as well. Not sure on their status, if someone out that way can check?

What is the delay - scoop it up and get rid of it, it really isn't that tough! Just tell people that they can have the mulch.

  6. Yes. Cox park will also have grass growing this spring, unlike the two parks mentioned above. Hope you enjoy it.
